However, as shifts in consumer behavior and the pace of change in technology continue to disrupt the retail industry, many business stakeholders struggle to manage change and adapt to this new reality.

As a Retail Analyst, your mission will be to help position Tofugear as an expert in this fast-changing consumer landscape. Your in-depth understanding of the latest trends and insights on the retail industry will guide Tofugear’s clients, and will also be shared more widely with the industry through insight reports and other content.

To join; you need to be unquestionably passionate about the retail industry. You should be comfortable working both independently as well as on a small and very cohesive team. You must be analytical, inquisitive and most importantly, be able to create engaging content that will resonate with retail leaders and key stakeholders. You have a strong desire to go beyond facts to find the ‘so what’. Confidence in spoken and written English is a must.

  • Native English language capabilities
  • BS/BA Degree in a related field (i.e. management, marketing, etc…)
  • 2+ years experience in retail research analysis and/or management consulting

In addition, candidates with the following characteristics may be considered more favourably:

  • Fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese or any other additional language
  • 2+ years experience working in an insight and analytical role within a retail organisation or market research company


  • Collect data on consumers, retail businesses, marketplaces and industry actors for consolidation into actionable items, presentations and reports
  • Remain fully informed on market trends, other parties research and implement best practices
  • Develop and publish regular, self-determined, research notes and insight reports Deliver keynotes/presentations and act on panels in conferences, expos, seminars and other public speaking events
  • Conduct calls with industry stakeholders, potential clients and existing clients and provide insights on industry trends, news and strategies
  • Meet with prospective clients to identify business and/or customer experience problems,perform SWOT analysis, and interpret data for strategic recommendations
  • Work with existing clients by performing business evaluations and providing recommendations for continuous improvement
